Champions of the 2012 Club Car PGA of BC Pro-Executive presented by Richport Ford Lincoln:
Salt Spring Golf & Country Club Steven Marleau (Head Professional), Jim Charlton, Doug Fraser, and Bob Woodhouse

Tsawwassen, B.C. (June 11, 2012) – What a finish.  After playing the first 16 holes in  net 20 -under par the team from Salt Spring Island Golf & Country Club finished very strong as they wrapped up the final two holes in net 6 -under par to capture the Club Car PGA of BC Pro-Executive Championship Presented by Richport Ford Lincoln.  Weather and course conditions at Beach Grove Golf Club were superb which allowed Head Professional Steven Marleau and his skilled amateur team of Jim Charlton, Doug Fraser, and Bob Woodhouse to shot a collective net 26 -under par (116).  The victory earned the amateurs a brand new set of TaylorMade R11 irons, Marleau took home an additional $200 Professional bonus along with the Championship title.

The Club Car PGA of BC Pro-Executive Championship Presented by Richport Ford Lincoln has both a unique scoring format (shamble taking two net scores out of the foursome) and a unique team atmosphere by joining British Columbia’s Head Golf Professional’s with their respective Club’s board members, ownership, management, or other decision makers.  The end result is an opportunity for Golf Clubs to participate in both a competitive and social event, and compete for both a $2,000 cash purse for professionals and over $10,000 of prizes for the amateurs.  Professionals earned their share of the purse by shooting for birdies and eagles (the more you make the larger share of the purse you took home).

The team from Capilano Golf & Country Club consisting of Head Professional Mark Thirtle and his executive team of Brad Burgart, Pat McGuire, and Jamie Robb earned runner-up honors shooting a net 21 -under par (121).  In a tie for third net 20 -under par, the team from Langara Golf Course Head Professional Muncie Booth and his Executive team of Gary Giroux, Glen Sherriff, and Larry Oliver won out in retrogression over the team from Salmon Arm Golf Club Head Professional Doug Herron and his executive team Dave Peterson, John Clark, and Tim Gallant who eventually finished fourth.  Thirtle was the hot professional at Beach Grove making 6 birdies on his round taking home an additional $850 of the Professional purse for his efforts.

The event wrapped in the beautiful Clubhouse with a cocktail reception followed by a delicious meal.  In a repeat of last year’s event, players were able to enjoy watching Game #6 of the Stanley Cup finals during the reception, only this year both trophies were handed out and hoisted.
