Spring PAT kicks off Monday at Kings Links by the Sea

MARCH 31, 2017

RICHMOND, BC (PGA of British Columbia) – Fourteen individuals hopeful to become PGA of Canada members will be looking to take the next step in their careers Monday and Tuesday when the PGA of BC hosts its Spring Playing Ability Test (PAT) in Delta.

The applicants will be teeing off at Kings Links by the Sea both mornings as they attempt to meet the 36-hole pass scores required to become a Candidate for Membership within the Association.

To pass a PAT and register as a Candidate for Membership, applicants must record a two-day total that is no more than two times the course rating, plus 20 strokes. To meet the Class “A” requirement, the target score is two times the course rating plus 15 strokes.

That means next week’s participating applicants will need to card a 36-hole score of 163 or lower to meet the Candidate for Membership target, or 158 to reach the Class “A” standard.

Passing the PGA of BC’s Spring PAT has in the past proven to be a difficult task – last year’s test at Riverway Golf Course saw just six of 22 applicants meet their target score. However, this is only the first opportunity to record a qualifying score this year, and any applicants who do not meet the standard next week will have several more opportunities to do so over the course of the season.

Tee times for the Spring PAT are now available; click here to view the draw.
