Why did you become a PGA of Canada Professional?
Passion for golf and business since I was very young.

What is the most rewarding part about being a member of the PGA of BC?
I enjoy the community of PGA members I have had the pleasure of knowing throughout my career.

At which golf facility did you first begin working within the industry, and who was the PGA Professional?
Craig Rencher was my first Head Professional at Arbutus Ridge Golf & Country Club

Who has influenced your career the most, and how?
Scott Kolb. Working with Scott at three properties and having partnered with Scott in our own golf related business for over 15 years. Scott was never someone to 'follow the pack' or do something 'just because'. Scott always taught me to balance my efforts as a leader. Be visible, but don't get it the way. Be involved, but don't micro-manage. Respect the delivery driver the same as your team and your members. Scott was always aware of fresh ideas, new concepts, and new ways to succeed.

What career path led you to where you are today?
Leading Royal Colwood has been goal of mine for 20 years. My intent was to understand the role of each position and build a foundation of experience in a variety of settings to be successful in my current role. Arbutus Ridge, Arrowsmith Golf Club, Raven at Lora Bay, Georgian Bay Club, Cottonwood Golf Club, Victoria Golf Club, Hirsch Creek Golf & Winter Club. Royal Colwood Golf Club.

Which significant accomplishments are you most proud of?
Opening the Raven at Lora Bay golf course and clubhouse in 2006. VB Golf Partnership. The variety of experiences I have been fortunate to accumulate in the Golf Industry from golf groups to Pebble Beach to working with teams at various properties to create memorable experiences for members and guests. Live comedy shows were the most fun!

If you had to share one piece of advice with a new member of our Association, what would it be?
Balance and communication are the two most important skills to master. Be fair but firm and treat others as you wish to be treated. Have integrity and be honest with others. You be you.

What is your most cherished golf memory?
Pebble Baby was a special event. Addressing our 625 participants at Vegas Baby. Emcee for Sergio Garcia's clinic after he landed a helicopter on the teaching deck. Clubhouse leader after round 1 of the Pender Island Pro-Am.

What is your favourite golf course in British Columbia, and why?
Royal Colwood. A.V. Macan is a wizard and selfishly, offers such a variety of experiences over a historical layout.

What is a common misconception that golfers make about what your job entails?
The easy answer is that PGA members are assumed to keep their golf game sharp with lots of range time and rounds of golf.

What is an interesting fact about yourself that doesn't involve golf?
I don't consider myself overly interesting, but I do enjoy riding motorcycles, landscaping, carpentry and playing hockey. I also believe Canucks will soon win the cup.
