PGA of BC Announces Presenters for 2023 Education Seminar

RICHMOND, BC (PGA of British Columbia)Joe Roberts, the ‘Skid Row CEO’ who overcame homelessness and addiction to go on to lead a successful Vancouver multimedia company, will be among the keynote speakers when the 2023 PGA of BC Spring Education Seminar returns to Tsawwassen Springs Golf on Feb. 6-7. This will mark the first in-person seminar since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Roberts, who pushed a shopping cart across Canada to raise awareness for youth homelessness through his Push For Change Foundation, will close out the seminar Tuesday afternoon with a presentation on building resiliency and embracing change.

This year’s seminar was developed with careful consideration of feedback from attendees in past membership surveys, and covers a range of diverse topics relevant to all Golf Professionals.

Other featured speakers include PGA Tour Putting Consultant & Odyssey Master Putting Instructor Stephen Sweeney. Sweeney has worked with PGA Tour stars like Shane Lowry, Collin Morikawa and Joaquin Niemann and will be giving a lesson on the intricacies of the short game. In addition, Olympians Jennifer Jones and Brent Laing will share stories from their curling careers and will speak to what it takes to be truly world class in any endeavour. Jones and Laing are Canadian sport icons, having both captured multiple golds at the World Curling Championships, with Jones adding an Olympic gold in 2014.

The Spring Education Seminar will once again represent a crucial opportunity for PGA of BC members to obtain points toward the Professional Development Program Order of Merit presented by Sunice & Bobby Jones. Members will receive eight (8) PDP points for each day they attend and sign in at registration.

Registration is open now and is priced at $139 (plus GST) for PGA of BC members. Non-members are welcome to register for $239 (plus GST) and with the reference of a Class “A” member.
