Community Engagement Program
What is the Community Engagement Program?
The Community Engagement Program (CEP) is an annual points race, launched in 2024, that recognizes PGA of BC golf professionals for going beyond the course through volunteering, fundraising, charitable work, and promoting the game across British Columbia. Top 10 finishers share a $5,000 season purse, with $1,000 awarded to the champion.
Points are earned through participation in, promotion of, and fundraising for key community events such as the Golfathon for ALS, Teach-a-thon for Mental Health, Canucks Junior Golf Month, and Women's Golf Celebration. The program also recognizes broader contributions, including volunteer work, involvement in other sports, and additional fundraising activities.
Social media use is a core component of the program. Professionals are encouraged to actively promote the PGA of BC, its educational events, and its tournaments online, helping raise the association's visibility, accessibility, and public profile.

Community Bursary and Scholarship Opportunities
Every year, there are PGA of BC professionals and facilities quietly doing more than the job asks. Building programs. Opening doors. Turning a round of golf into something bigger, a mentorship, a scholarship, a community's first real access to the game. The Community Leadership Bursary and the Gibson Family Scholarship exists to honour that spirit.
This $1,000 award goes to a PGA golf professional whose passion for giving back has become part of who they are, someone using their unique gifts to make a genuine difference in the lives around them. It's not just recognition but reinvestment; funds go straight back into the community work that earned it, helping great initiatives grow even further.
Similar to the CEP Points Race, these awards are a part of how we recognize excellence across the Association and is built specifically for the pros and facilities whose contribution is community impact, education promotion and work that changes lives outside the pro shop as much as inside it. Presented each fall at the PGA of BC Golf Awards Celebration, these awards celebrate the kind of leadership that makes the whole Association proud.
