Tournament Order of Merit

The PGA of BC Order of Merit is designed to recognize excellence in competition by Association members across the province over the course of a season. Golf Professionals earn points toward the Order of Merit based upon their results in individual stroke-play championships conducted by the PGA of BC and in affiliated Regional Tour events.

It is also important to note that the Player of the Year will no longer be determined directly by the Final Order of Merit Standings, but rather a recommendation by the Captain's Committee and approved by the Board of Directors. The Order of Merit will be a heavily influential in the selection process, in addition to the consideration of other events, such as national events and championships.

The PGA of BC’s Tagmarshal Cup has been updated as of 2023, to better recognize golf professionals for not only their performance but also their participation across a wider range of competitions throughout British Columbia and Canada. Key changes include:​

• Points are now awarded for both results in the PGA of BC Championships and participation in these and other events, emphasizing the importance of active engagement in tournament golf.​

• The selection of specific Regional Tour events for Order of Merit points has been removed. Points are now based on a professional's finish in their Regional Tours' overall Order of Merit standings.​

• A broader range of competitions, including national championships, the RBC scramble, and other professional tournaments, will now contribute to Order of Merit points, recognizing a wider scope of professional involvement.​

This revised approach aims to more fully represent a professional's engagement and performance throughout the tournament season, encouraging broader participation and competitive acknowledgement in golf across the province.​

Tournament Order of Merit (OOM): Beginning in May, OOM updates will be released in the last week of each month. This schedule ensures competition results are reviewed and processed efficiently, giving members an up-to-date view of their tournament performance.
