From college teammates to PGA of BC champions: Ryujin and Conlan win the 2026 Pro-Pro Championship

Victoria, British Columbia (PGA of BC) - After earning their first professional tournament victory together last year, Zach Ryujin (Gorge Vale Golf Club) and Robin Conlan (Cordova Bay Golf Course) shared another milestone Tuesday, each capturing their first provincial championship at the 2026 PGA of BC Pro-Pro Championship presented by Sundog Eyewear, Blue Tees Golf, and Coolbet.

The former University of Victoria teammates finished with 84 Stableford points at Highland Pacific Golf, pairing an opening-round 62 (-9) in best-ball with a final-round 68 (-3) in alternate-shot to win by three points.

The duo earned their first professional tournament victory together on the Golf Performance Project Island Pro Tour in 2025 and also won the Tour’s Island Pro-Pro best-ball earlier this year.

“The last time we played together as a team, we won the Island Pro-Pro. Going into this, we had quite a bit of confidence. Being able to win my first provincial championship with Zach as a teammate, to get it done together means the world,” said Conlan.

Ryujin shot seven-under on his own ball Monday as the duo combined for nine birdies without a bogey, collecting 45 points to establish a two-point lead.

Starting Tuesday’s alternate-shot round on hole 10, they made bogeys on the 12th and 15th, with a birdie on the 13th sandwiched in between. Consecutive birdies on the 16th and 17th helped them complete their opening nine at one-under.

A bogey on the 1st brought them back to even-par for the round, but the pair played their final eight holes without a blemish. Birdies on the 4th, 5th and 7th, followed by two closing pars, completed a three-under round for 39 points.

Conlan’s familiarity with the pressure of alternate-shot began in Germany, where he regularly represented his golf club in matches against other clubs. Their partnership developed at UVic, where Conlan captained the golf team during Ryujin’s early years before Ryujin later took on the role himself.

The former teammates remain close friends and competitors. Both Conlan and Ryujin sit inside the top-five on the Island Tour Order of Merit heading into the tour championship.

“We always have each other's backs,” said Conlan. “We want to beat each other really badly but we're super happy when the other does well. On an individual level, it gives us a lot of confidence.”

For Ryujin, the opportunity to team up with Conlan made this Championship a priority.

“I wasn't able to play as many events as I wanted to this year. For this one, I was like, I have Robin, let's go do it. This is the time!” said Ryujin.

Benjamin Griffin (Uplands Golf Club) and Eric Wang (Victoria Academy of Golf) earned 39 points Tuesday with a 68 (-3), finishing tied for second at 81 points alongside defending champions Clark MacPherson and Killian Cullen (both Point Grey Golf & Country Club). MacPherson and Cullen recorded 40 alternate-shot points with a 67 (-4), including an eagle on the 17th.

Three teams tied for fourth place with 78 Stableford points: Daniel Kirby (Cedar Hill Golf Course) and Tahir Shamji (Gorge Vale Golf Club); Connor O'Dell and Zach Olson (Chilliwack Golf Club); and Justin Towill (Harvest Golf Club) and Adrian Murray (Summerland Golf & Country Club).
