Victoria, BC (PGA of BC) - The 2025 Srixon/Cleveland Golf Club Professional Championship presented by Nike Golf and Mobilicab concluded Tuesday as Nathan Leonhardt (Tour Development Academy) took a five-stroke victory at Victoria Golf Club.
Leonhardt fired a 69 (-1) in the opening round to sit in solo second place, trailing Crown Isle Resort & Golf Community’s Jamie Moran by two strokes with one round to play. Leonhardt quickly closed the gap early in the final round as he tied Moran after the third hole, having already made two birdies. Leading by one stroke at the turn, Leonhardt’s best stretch of the tournament came at the perfect moment. He birdied three consecutive holes, the 10th through 12th, extending his lead to four shots over Dave Zibrik (Point Grey Golf & Country Club) and five over Moran. Leonhardt remained composed as he birdied the 15th and avoided mistakes across the final stretch to shoot a final round 66 (-4).
“In the practice round, with it being so windy, I got back into this punch shot that I used to know and love, and my contact was really good,” said Leonhardt. “So, even over the last two days when it wasn’t as windy, I stuck to that kind of shot. I was able to start my ball on line most of the time, hit it mostly solid, and find good spots on the green.”
As the round progressed and Leonhardt’s steady play continued to build momentum, the significance of the moment began to set in. With a commanding lead down the stretch and the picturesque backdrop of Victoria Golf Club surrounding him, Leonhardt took a moment to reflect on the journey and what the victory meant on such a storied stage.
“I’ve heard about this golf course before, but going out there and now having won, it makes me emotional. I’ve been playing really good golf lately, things have been coming together, but to have this happen at such an amazing facility... I thought, ‘This would be such a special place to win a tournament,’ and then it actually happened. Trying to soak that in on that stretch out there on the water, as much as my heart was beating, I took a look out there, took some deep breaths. It was such a cool experience.”
Zibrik and Kevin Stinson (Cheam Mountain Golf Course) tied as runners-up at even-par. Zibrik followed his opening round 73 with a 3-under 67, while Stinson went 71-69 to share second place. Moran and Lindsay Bernakevitch (Victoria Golf Club) tied for fourth at 2-over. Sharing sixth place, Mark Kitts (Shadow Ridge Golf Club) and Rob Anderson (Kelowna Golf & Country Club) were 3-over for the event.
There was a Skins Competition held in the final round. Congratulations to Lance McCullough (The Ridge Course at Cordova Bay) for his birdie on 6, and Todd Tweedy (Nk’Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course) for his birdie on 9. McCullough and Tweedy were awarded $540 each.
