Richmond, BC (PGA of BC) - Professionals from across the province representing 46 teams will take on The Rise Resort for the PGA of BC’s 2025 G&G Brands and Callaway Golf Pro-Assistant Championship next Monday and Tuesday.

Set high above the Okanagan Valley with sweeping views of Lake Okanagan, The Rise Resort in Vernon is a dramatic, mountainside layout that rewards bold shot-making and strategic thinking, ideal for a team competition. With elevation changes that test every club in the bag, The Rise offers a challenging experience that captures the natural beauty of BC’s interior. Competitors can expect firm and dry conditions as the weather forecast projects sunshine and temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius.

Chad Scott is the Director of Operations at The Rise Resort. He emphasized the unique design of the course and how it sets up for a thrilling team competition offering professionals a variety of strategic approaches.

“There’s a lot of risk-reward. A normal round of golf out there, I may hit driver three times, because you definitely want to keep the ball in play. It brings a lot of trouble playing driver off the tee, but that’s what makes it so fun. With the Pro-Assistant format, this opens things up for pros to get really aggressive and take on that risk. There can be a huge reward for taking on certain angles or shortcuts,” said Scott.

“It’s a really special piece of land. It’s unique in a lot of ways, from both a golf perspective and an experience perspective.”

At last year’s Pro-Assistant Championship at Copper Point Golf Club, Miles Palahniuk and Keith Martin teamed up to set the Pro-Assistant two-pro scramble record score, firing a 16-under 55 in the final round for a come-from-behind victory. Martin is now the Head Professional at Sunset Ranch Golf & Country Club. While the duo could pair up as a team for the Pro-Pro Championship later this season, Palahniuk will be joined by Nicholas Gardler for the 2025 Pro-Assistant.

“Nick gets the ball in play. It allows me to be aggressive off the tee; that’s kind of my game. Nothing has really changed in terms of strategy for the event,” said Palahniuk.

“If we can ham-and-egg it in Round One and try to get in with the last couple groups, you never know what can happen in Round Two for the scramble. It would be exciting and rewarding to win it again with a new partner.”

Other top competitors who have enjoyed recent success in the event include three-time champions Brian McDonald and Rob Tadey (Fairview Mountain Golf Club) who won in 2017, 2020 and 2023, and two-time winners James Presnail and Mark Kitts (Shadow Ridge Golf Club) who took victories in 2018 and 2021.

The Pro-Assistant Championship would not be possible without the generous support we receive from Co-Title Sponsors G&G Brands and Callaway Golf.

Thank you to G&G Brands President Brad German and Sales Representative Deanna Ruby for their continued patronage.

The PGA of BC also extends appreciation to Callaway Golf Western Regional Sales Director Andy Dexter, Sales Representative Kyle German, and Sales Representative Dave Arnold for their ongoing partnership and longtime support.

Thank you to Supporting Sponsor Lovely Day Beverage Co. and Director of Sales Sean Cromie. Competitors can enjoy a complimentary Hard T iced tea beverage on behalf of Lovely Day Beverage Co.

Finally, the PGA of BC recognizes Chad Scott, Head Professional Austin Bosquet and the entire Rise Resort team for their time, efforts and hospitality in advance of the championship.
