Seymour Creek Golf Centre wins the 2025 G&G Brands and Callaway Golf Pro-Assistant Championship

Seymour Creek Golf Centre wins the 2025 G&G Brands and Callaway Golf Pro-Assistant Championship

July 9, 2025

Vernon, BC (PGA of BC) - Seymour Creek Golf Centre’s James Legault and Steven Lecuyer won the 2025 G&G Brands and Callaway Golf Pro-Assistant Championship at The Rise Resort with a tournament-record score of 26-under par.

The pair took the lead following Round One after their spectacular 58 (-14) in the two-pro best-ball format. Having never played the course and arriving on a flight that morning, Lecuyer shot 59 (-13) on his own ball, a stunning achievement that marked the first time an individual Association member shot 59 in a PGA of BC event. Seymour Creek took a three-stroke lead into the final round over Fairview Mountain Golf Club’s Brian McDonald and Rob Tadey, who also enjoyed an incredible best-ball performance, firing an 11-under 61 in Round One.

Round Two was contested as a two-pro scramble. Legault and Lecuyer maintained their momentum from the day before, opening their second round with four straight birdies. Playing in the final group alongside Legault and Lecuyer, McDonald and Tadey matched their competitors with four opening birdies of their own. By the turn, Fairview Mountain had cut the deficit to just two shots, but on the 11th and 12th holes, Seymour Creek bolstered their lead with back-to-back eagles to go four strokes up with six holes to play. While Fairview Mountain added three more birdies across the final six holes, Seymour Creek birdied 17 and 18 to seal a three-shot victory.

With a 14-under 58 in best-ball and a 12-under 60 in the scramble, Seymour Creek’s 26-under set the record for best Pro-Assistant total of all time.

“It’s just a great event. We were having a ton of fun out there,” said Legault. “Steven played unbelievable golf the first day, which made today that much easier. We kept it in play, made some putts and it was a really great day.”

While Lecuyer’s pinpoint strikes and perfect putts fueled the pair’s opening round, Legault’s strong short game ultimately secured the championship title as he sunk both birdie putts on the closing holes.

“We ham-and-egged it really well. If I hit a bad shot, James would come up clutch. If I missed a putt, he would make it,” said Lecuyer. “It was awesome teamwork. We were losing a little steam there but finished birdie-birdie after James made a couple of nice putts.”

While the Fairview Mountain duo of McDonald and Tadey fell just short of their fourth career victory in the event, their final score of 23-under surpassed the previous tournament record score by one stroke. Following their opening round best-ball 61, the pair shot 60 (-12) in Round Two.

Rob Anderson and Jason Jurimae, representing Kelowna Golf & Country Club, finished at 20-under par, including a joint-best scramble score of 59 in the final round, to earn third place overall. James Presnail and Mark Kitts (Shadow Ridge Golf Club) matched Kelowna’s 59 in the scramble.

Two teams tied for fourth place at 19-under: Sergej Dronov and Mewail Kidane (Pacific Golf Academy (Richmond)), and Ryan Stugis and Finlay Young (Groove4Golf).
