Taylor Kim wins 2026 Women's Championship presented by Honma Golf and Wolfe Jack Supply Co., Matt Daniel takes Seniors' Championship title

June 25, 2026

Pitt Meadows, BC (PGA of BC) - The 2026 PGA of BC Seniors' & Women's Championships presented by Honma Golf and Wolfe Jack Supply Co. concluded Tuesday at Pitt Meadows Golf Club, with Taylor Kim (Beach Grove Golf Club) winning the Women's title and Matt Daniel (Savage Creek Golf Club) taking victory in the Seniors' Championship.

Kim entered the second and final round two shots back of McCleery Golf Course's Kat Kennedy, with Kim posting an opening round 74 and Kennedy an even-par 72.

Kennedy strengthened her position early in Tuesday’s final round, extending her lead to four shots through four holes. Kim responded swiftly, making birdies on the fifth and seventh before a two-shot swing on the ninth brought the players level at the turn. Kim took control with a birdie on the 11th, then created breathing room with another birdie on the 15th. Kennedy kept pressure on with a birdie of her own at the 16th hole, but Kim held firm over the closing stretch to post a final-round 70 (-2) and secure a three-stroke victory. This marks Kim's second Women's Championship win, having captured the title in 2024.

"That birdie on 15 was a big boost. It didn't guarantee anything, but it reminded me that I was doing enough and just needed to keep trusting myself. As a coach, I'm always telling my students that you don't need your A-game to compete. This week, I had to take my own advice," said Kim.

"I didn't do anything spectacular out there. I just played steady, stayed patient, and tried to keep giving myself chances. The course was in fantastic condition so it was really enjoyable to play. On a day that hot, it was mostly about staying focused and managing your energy. I think experience helped me a lot this week. When you're not playing as much or training regularly, you learn to rely on course management and patience."

Kim said that patience was shaped by more than just tournament experience, as much of her approach traced back to the way she learned the game.

"A lot of what I was thinking about this week came from lessons my Dad taught me growing up. It's nice when those things still show up years later."

For Kim, the victory was also a chance to reflect on the state of women’s golf in BC, and the opportunities ahead for the next generation of players.

"Women's golf in BC is in a great place right now. There are so many talented players, coaches, and young girls coming through the game, and it's exciting to be part of that. I hope a few of the junior girls watching see that there are a lot of different paths in golf. You can compete, coach, lead, and stay involved in the game for a lifetime."

Kennedy clinched second place in the event, finishing at 3-over. This marked an impressive return to PGA of BC competition for Kennedy.

Belinda Lin (Pacific Golf Academy) posted the low round of the Women's Championship on Tuesday with a 68 (-4). She soared up the leaderboard to finish at 4-over and clinch third place.

Kyla Inaba (Predator Ridge Golf Resort) finished in fourth place, while Una Chou (Marine Drive Golf Club), Stephanie Vanderpas (Point Grey Golf & Country Club), and Christine Wong (Savage Creek Golf Club) tied for fifth.

On the Seniors' side, Daniel started his final round with a three-stroke lead following his 68 on Monday, and he kept himself in control with a strong opening nine Tuesday.

Daniel made birdies on the second, eighth and ninth holes to sit at 6-under with nine holes to play. Bryn Parry (Seymour Creek Golf Centre) made a charge with a final-round 70 (-2), and moved within two shots after Daniel made double bogey on the 13th. Daniel responded immediately with back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15, and closed with a 71 to finish the tournament at 5-under and win by four strokes.

"It's the first win in a while and it feels great. I just wanted to execute my plan and not worry about too much of the other stuff today," said Daniel, who will also be competing in next week's U.S. Senior Open at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio.

"I didn't know the scores, so I just kept playing my game. I thought I was playing pretty good, but I kept bumbling every time I thought I was doing well. I'd make a mistake, then I'd climb back, make a mistake, climb back. It was just back and forth all day, but it worked out well.

That ability to recover proved critical down the stretch, as Daniel pointed to a pair of unlikely saves that helped keep his round from slipping away.

"I hit it in the water on 10. I chipped over the green, then I chipped in for par. I thought I was going to make it, and I made it. I felt like I could get it done from there. Then I made a mistake again, hit it in the trees and had to hit a little punch from 120 yards, two feet in the air. It kind of spun a little bit to about three feet, and I rolled it in for birdie."

Parry earned runner-up honours in the Seniors' Championship, climbing the leaderboard with an impressive round Tuesday, finishing at 1-under for the tournament.

Luke McKenzie (Ledgeview Golf Club) and Doug Morgan (Richmond Country Club) tied for third at 1-over. Keir Smith (Canada Golf Academy) and Brett Burgeson (Breaking Par Golf Academy) shared fifth place at 2-over.

Jeff Palmer (Highland Pacific Golf) made an incredible hole-in-one on Pitt Meadows' par-3 16th in Round One, playing as the 7th hole in this week's championship. The PGA of BC wishes congratulations to Jeff on his fourth career ace!
