Teach-A-Thon for Mental Health lesson registration is now open

Teach-A-Thon for Mental Health lesson registration is now open

August 19, 2026

Richmond, British Columbia (PGA of BC) - The PGA of BC and the Canadian Mental Health Association British Columbia are proud to announce that lesson registration is now open for the 2026 Teach-A-Thon for Mental Health, taking place throughout the province this September.

Thirty-four PGA of BC professionals will volunteer their time to provide golf lessons in support of mental health programs and services. Golfers can book a lesson with a participating professional, with lesson fees supporting CMHA BC. A suggested minimum lesson fee donation of $50 is encouraged. Participants can also make a separate charitable donation to further support the Teach-A-Thon.

Participating professionals are offering a variety of lesson formats throughout the month, including individual instruction, group lessons and longer clinic-style sessions. Availability, lesson formats and dates vary by professional and facility.

The Teach-A-Thon for Mental Health began in 2023 with Ledgeview Golf Club Director of Instruction Brady Stead, who launched the Steady Golf Teach-A-Thon for Mental Health and taught lessons from dawn to dusk, directing 100 per cent of lesson revenue and additional contributions received to the Canadian Mental Health Association. Through the first two years of his Teach-A-Thon, Stead raised $9,870 for the initiative.

In 2025, Stead, the PGA of BC, and CMHA BC worked together to expand Stead's initiative across the province, inviting PGA of BC professionals to volunteer their teaching time and use their platforms within the golf community to support mental health. The first province-wide Teach-A-Thon for Mental Health raised more than $25,000.

Funds raised through the Teach-A-Thon support the work of CMHA across British Columbia. Depending on community needs, funding can help support programs such as prevention and early intervention initiatives, community-based crisis supports, peer-led recovery services and programs addressing broader factors affecting mental well-being.

How to Book a Lesson and Support the Teach-A-Thon

Anyone interested in participating can find available lessons through the 2026 Teach-A-Thon for Mental Health website.

  1. Visit the Teach-A-Thon website and select "Book Your Golf Lesson"
  2. Find a participating club and/or PGA of BC professional in your area and click through to their page.
  3. Scroll to the calendar booking section on the page. Please note that some participating clubs are offering lessons exclusively to their members.
  4. Select an available date and time and reserve your lesson through the booking calendar.
  5. After you have confirmed your lesson booking, follow the payment instructions provided on the professional's page to "Lesson Fee Donation".

Please note that some participating clubs are offering lessons exclusively to their members. In these cases, online booking will not be available on the club or professional page; instead, members will find instructions and contact information for reserving their lesson directly.

Participants who wish to make a separate charitable donation to further support PGA of BC Teach-A-Thon for Mental Health fundraising campaign may do so here. All non-lesson donations of $20+ will receive a charitable tax receipt from CMHA BC.
