The Dunes at Kamloops set to host the 2026 Play Golf BC Assistants' Championship

The Dunes at Kamloops set to host the 2026 Play Golf BC Assistants' Championship

March 12, 2026

Richmond, BC (PGA of British Columbia) - The PGA of BC is pleased to announce that The Dunes at Kamloops will host the 2026 Play Golf BC Assistants’ Championship, scheduled for June 8–9.

The Dunes at Kamloops is known for its distinctive layout carved through natural sand dunes and native fescue. Designed by Canadian architect Graham Cooke, the course offers a links-style feel uncommon in British Columbia’s interior, with undulating greens and firm playing surfaces that present a strong test for players competing in the championship.

"The Association is very much looking forward to hosting its Assistant's Championship at The Dunes - the Kamloops area is a nice, central location for our Assistant Pro members located all across the province, the facility itself has recently hosted provincial championships, and the team at The Dunes, led by Head Pro Bill Bilton Jr., is excited to help us continue to elevate our PGA of BC tournament experience," said PGA of BC Executive Director Mark Strong. "Thank you as well to Play Golf BC and Bruce Vermee for their support of this event; their partnership is much appreciated."

The Assistants’ Championship arrives in Kamloops during a period of remarkable dominance by Steven Lecuyer (Seymour Creek Golf Centre), who has captured the Assistants' title in each of the past three seasons. Lecuyer joined Gerry Chatelain as the only PGA of BC members to win the championship three consecutive times, cementing his standing as one of the Association’s most accomplished competitors. Over the past several seasons, Lecuyer has been a consistent presence atop the PGA of BC’s competitive landscape. In 2025, he topped the Association’s Order of Merit and earned PGA of BC Male Player of the Year honours.

The championship is presented in partnership with Play Golf BC, an online tee-time platform that provides golfers with discounted tee times at courses throughout the province. Play Golf BC has established relationships with courses in Kamloops, Kelowna, Vernon, the South Okanagan, and Vancouver Island, and continues to grow its network of partner facilities across British Columbia.

The PGA of BC extends its sincere appreciation to The Dunes at Kamloops for hosting the 2026 championship and thanks Head Professional Bill Bilton Jr. and the entire team at the facility for their support in welcoming the province’s top Assistant Professionals.

The Association also thanks Play Golf BC and Bruce Vermee for their support of the Assistants’ Championship and their commitment to PGA of BC members.

Registration for the Assistants' Championship, along with the Tournament of Champions, Seniors' Championship, Women's Championship, and Pro-Assistant Championship, will open April 1.
