B.C. BOARD ENDORSES DIRECTION OF PACE

The PGA of BC Board of Directors
has voted to support the direction of
the CPGA's Professional Advancement
and Career Enhancement (PACE)
proposal
which will be voted on by all CPGA members
in March.

At a board meeting held in early January,
members were unanimous in supporting the
proposal, which they saw as a significant
improvement over the first version of PACE
put before CPGA members and rejected in 2008.

"This latest version of PACE addresses a
number of issues that members weren't happy
about," said B.C. zone president Keith Gibson,
Head Professional of Long Beach GC
.
"While no program will ever be perfect or
meet everyone's exact wishes, this version
of PACE is definitely a step in the right
direction."

Gibson said the B.C. board will not try
to tell individual members how they should
vote on the proposal, but will encourage all
members to become involved in the decision-making
process.

"People need to read the document and form
their own conclusions about it," he said.
"If they're well informed, they'll be in
a position to make the best possible decision."

All CPGA members who are eligible to vote
will have the opportunity to cast a ballot
regarding the adoption of PACE.

The CPGA's Annual General Meeting takes
place March 24th, 2010, in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Proxy forms will be made available to
members shortly so that they can vote without
attending the meeting in person.

The current version of the PACE proposal
is available to view in the Members' Only section.
