Ashley Zibrik of Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club continues to lead the 2014 Professional Development Program points race, thanks to outstanding volunteerism and continued strong play. Zibrik has earned 76 points - enough for a six point lead over Jeff Palmer of Olympic View Golf Club.
Zibrik volunteered at both the PGA of BC Championship and the PGA of BC Women's Championship in addition to playing in both events - her volunteer duties not distracting her from a runner up finish in the Women's Championship.
Palmer made a big move in the standings, thanks to attending the PGA of Canada's NCCP Coach New Competitor workshop. Those points combined with points earned during the PGA of BC Championship give Palmer 70 points, a nine-point edge over Spallumcheen Golf & Country Club's Myles Johnson, who sits in third place at 61 points. Johnson added six points to his third place total at the PGA of BC Championship.
Introduced in 2013, the PGA of British Columbia Professional Development Program (PDP) is an annual Order of Merit designed to recognized members of the Association whom showed a tremendous contribution to the Association, the industry, and mostly importantly themselves. Through involvement in Education, Tournaments, Trade Show, Awards, and various forms of Volunteerism, the PDP provides equal opportunity to showcase the strength of our members.
Many members are eligible for additional points subject to the submission of documentation. The Top 10 on the Order of Merit recieve cash awards, while the Top 100 are recognized with a special designation and logo for use on member profiles.
