Golf-A-Thon for ALS

Golf-A-Thon for ALS

Since its inception in 2005, the PGA of BC is proud to partner with the ALS Society of British Columbia in developing the Golf-A-Thon for ALS.

PGA of BC professionals play golf from sunrise to sunset, in honour of lending their muscles to those who have lost theirs to the deadly disease. The goal for each professional is to play as many holes as possible through a 24-hour span.

Over the course of the past 11 years, the annual event held in the month of June has grown steadily each year, and we are proud to maintain a 100% retention rate from both professionals and facilities.

In 2012, Global TV Morning News Anchor Steve Darling offered a hand in being the official Ambassador of the event. Global TV, TEAM 1040/1410AM, The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group and Astral Media provide generous province-wide advertising opportunities, which has brought almost 500 television and radio ads aired each year during the month of June.

As of end of the 2016 campaign, the 12-year totals of the Golf-A-Thon for ALS are as follows:

Funds Raised: $1,321,428
Total Holes Golfed: 199,686
Total Patients Assisted: Over 4,400
Holes in One: 9
