MARK BICKNELL, Class "A" Professional, Victoria Golf Club

Topic: "Teaching Outside the Box"

Mark Bicknell will explore creative methods in golf instruction that lead to increased service levels and revenue streams through coaching.

About Mark Bicknell:

Mark Bicknell is originally from Southampton, England where he spent the majority of his childhood. He began playing the game of golf at age 13 and quickly fell in love with the game. He represented his county at all levels and was very active playing on the amateur circuit throughout the UK. Mark moved to Canada in 2011 and began his career as a golf professional at The Fairmont Banff Springs. He spent two fantastic years in Banff before moving to Silver Springs G&CC, Calgary in 2013 to further his professional career. Following three years at Silver Springs, he decided to move to the Victoria GC in 2016 to join an industry-leading team and continue his career in warmer climates.

Mark has become a lead instructor at Victoria Golf Club during his 4 years at the club and strives to instruct and develop all levels of golfers from juniors to elite players. Mark has shown great success over the past four seasons at VGC with his students which were capped off this year by having two juniors finish in the top 5 of The US Kids World Junior Championship at Pinehurst and a student win the Men's BC Provincial Amateur Championship. He was selected as the PGA of BC's 2019 recipient of the Alvie Thompson Teacher of the Year Award.
