PGA of BC releases 2019 championship schedule

RICHMOND, BC (PGA of British Columbia) – The PGA of BC will conduct eight championship events across four of the Association’s geographic regions in 2019, once again providing a variety of avenues for member Golf Professionals to compete amongst each other and alongside amateurs from their respective facilities.

This year’s schedule includes an event taking place in the Kootenay region, which will mark the first time one of the PGA of BC’s active championships has been held in the eastern portion of the province since 2000. Altogether, seven different British Columbia communities will host zone-wide competitions conducted by the Association in 2019.

The 2019 PGA of BC championship schedule is as follows:

  • Tournament of Champions presented by Tee-On Golf Systems Inc.
    May 27 – Northview Golf & Country Club (Ridge Course), Surrey
    Format: Two-person teams (Club Professional & amateur); 18 holes best-ball
    2018 Champions: The Tour LAB @ Northview (Matthew Palsenbarg & Jake Scarrow)
     
  • Assistants’ & Seniors’ Championships presented by Natera Sport
    June 6-7 – Seymour Golf & Country Club, North Vancouver
    Format: 36 holes individual stroke play
    2018 Assistants’ Champion: Oliver Tubb (University Golf Club)
    2018 Seniors’ Champion: Norm Jarvis (Sunshine Woods Golf Course)

     
  • G&G Golf Company & Callaway Golf Pro-Assistant Championship
    July 8-9 – Copper Point Golf Club, Invermere
    Format: Two-person teams; 18 holes best-ball, 18 holes scramble
    2018 Champions: Shadow Ridge Golf Club (James Presnail & Mark Kitts)
     
  • Jack McLaughlin Memorial Pro-Junior Championship presented by COBRA PUMA Golf
    July 22 – Highland Pacific Golf, Victoria
    Format: Four-person teams (one Golf Professional & three juniors), 18 holes two-net best-ball
    2018 Champions: Nanaimo Golf Club (Chris Martens, Sasha Farenholtz, Kirit Lalh, Eli Greene)
     
  • TaylorMade & adidas Golf PGA of BC Championship presented by Axis Insurance Group
    Aug. 19-20 – Whistler Golf Club, Whistler
    Format: 36 holes individual stroke play
    2018 Champion: Kevin Stinson (Cheam Mountain Golf Course)
     
  • Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO Club Professional Championship presented by Yamaha
    Sept. 23-24 – Kelowna Golf & Country Club, Kelowna
    Format: 36 holes individual stroke play
    2018 Champion: Lindsay Bernakevitch (Victoria Golf Club)
     
  • Women’s Championship presented by Dexim Golfwear
    Oct. 1-2 – Point Grey Golf & Country Club, Vancouver
    Format: 36 holes individual stableford
    2018 Champion: Ashley Zibrik (Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club)

Registration for all events is now open to eligible PGA of BC Professionals. Space is limited for all tournaments and popular events often fill up quickly, so early registration is encouraged to ensure your place in the field. Reduced registration fees are also available to those signing up at least three weeks prior to a tournament’s start date.
